About this course

Suitable for all abilities, from students who are fairly new to ceramics as well as more experienced students wishing to develop their skills. A variety of hand-building techniques will be covered including pinch pots, coiling, slab-work, working with press-moulds and modelling, as well as learning the principals of throwing. The decorating and glazing of pots are also explored in a way that encourages students to develop their creativity. Beginners are welcome but they need to attend from the beginning of the term.

Techniques of pinch pots, modelling, coiling, using press-moulds, slab building, throwing, turning, decorating and glazing ceramic pieces.

Additional Info

Demonstration, question and answer, group discussion, individual tuition, practice and hand-outs. Students are encouraged to plan ahead carry out research and develop ideas outside the lessons.

Students might like to bring an apron or wear old clothes. Strong footwear should be worn.
